Delia CariasDr. Delia Carias, MSOP Graduate of 2010, is currently a Clinical Pharmacist in Medication Use Policy at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  Delia’s duties include working on projects related to medication safety, medication use policy, and investigational drugs and serving as the Antimicrobial Stewardship Coordinator.   When asked about the challenges of her position, she replied “St. Jude is a wonderful place, in that we have bench research being conducted that is then translated to bedside direct patient care; however, at times it can be challenging keeping up with our ever changing current practices.”

Prior to her work at St. Jude, Delia completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore MD and a PGY2 Health-Systems Pharmacy Administration Residency at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN.

“The faculty at MSOP fueled my passion for pharmacy”

When asked how MSOP prepared her to reach her goals, Delia replied “MSOP provided me with a solid foundation of pharmaceutical knowledge. This educational foundation enabled me to succeed in a Pharmacy Practice Residency at one of the best hospitals in the country.”  In addition, “the faculty at MSOP fueled my passion for pharmacy.  Many of the faculty are involved in pharmacy organizations on a local, state and national level; these pharmacists gave up their own time to improve our profession. Seeing their involvement has inspired me to become involved.”

In addition to her work in Pharmacy, Delia has always loved music.  She is involved with the arts in Memphis and enjoys singing with the Memphis Symphony Chorus and Chamber Choir.
